Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about notary services, appointments, pricing, and more.

General Notary Questions

A notary public is a state-commissioned official authorized to witness the signing of important documents, verify the identity of signers, and deter fraud. In Missouri, notaries are appointed by the Secretary of State.

I can notarize a wide range of documents including powers of attorney, affidavits, wills, trusts, real estate documents, medical directives, contracts, adoption papers, financial documents, and more. If you're unsure whether your document qualifies, just give me a call.

You'll need a valid, government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID) and the unsigned document(s) you need notarized. Do not sign the documents beforehand — the signing must happen in my presence.

No — please do not sign your documents before we meet. The whole point of notarization is that I witness you signing. If a document is already signed, it generally cannot be notarized.

Remote Online Notarization (RON)

RON allows you to get documents notarized via a secure video call — no in-person meeting required. It's legal in Missouri and uses identity verification technology and a digital seal to complete the notarization.

Not all documents are eligible for RON. Certain documents like wills may require in-person notarization depending on state law. Contact us and we'll let you know if your document qualifies.

You'll need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone, a valid government-issued photo ID, and a stable internet connection. We'll walk you through the rest.
